Creative collagraph – simple but subtle!

I have been making collagraphs for over 30 years, incorporating natural materials into my printing plates since 1998, and the possibilities still fascinate me!

There are so many options with the simple but surprisingly subtle collagraph, that I thought in this workshop we would try incorporating several approaches in one. That's exciting, I hear you say.

We could cut into the plate and peel away the layers to create different levels, textures and tones.

We can apply collage to build up the surface, using either man-made materials such as fabric, threads, card, or natural materials such as grass, seed-heads and feathers.

We can also extend the possibilities further by choosing whether to seal the plate or leave unsealed - or both!

The choice of subject is yours - bring a photograph or drawing to the workshop, or work more spontaneously when you get here. Alternatively, make use of my collection of photographs on a wide range of subjects.
